Abstract:
Constructing a coordinated urban system is an important mission of building a modern economic system in the new era. Europe has formed a multi-centered and networked urban system, and industrial system, technological innovation and financial services are the dominant factors determining the competitiveness of the core cities of European urban system. Drawing lessons from the experience of European urban system development, China should construct a multi-center and networked urban system based on regional coordinated development. Firstly, China should reduce the spatial cost by strengthening the construction of transportation infrastructure. Secondly, China should apply the achievements of a new round of scientific and technological revolution. Thirdly, China should create a number of different levels of central cities and urban clusters to optimize the internal structure of the urban system. Lastly, China should take the urban competitiveness as the reference coordinate, form a central city of the urban system with perfected industrial system, advanced scientific and technological innovation and financial services; and build the inter-city chain-networked division of labor system in accordance with the modern economic system.
