Since being established as a first-level discipline, the Marxist Theory discipline has achieved substantial accomplishments in its development. These achievements embody valuable experiences that are stable, universal, and regular. In the new era and on the new journey, the Marxist theory discipline has reached a new historical starting point. The historical task of promoting the prosperity of philosophy and social sciences in China’ s universities through the prioritized, advantageous, and high-quality development of the Marxist theory discipline has become even more prominent. However, in some disciplinary areas, there are still issues such as unclear disciplinary boundaries, a mismatch between the construction of professional disciplinary teams and the mission requirements of the discipline, and the need to strengthen the support for the construction of ideological and political theory courses. Based on the requirements of the times, this paper proposes considerations such as correctly understanding the disciplinary status, clarifying the historical tasks of discipline construction, effectively handling several major relationships in the face of new situations and problems, ensuring high-quality teaching of ideological and political courses by focusing on three key aspects, and earnestly fulfilling the glorious mission of safeguarding national ideological security.
