How to achieve spatial production and community building to facilitate the transition of traditional rural society towards modernization is an important issue in rural revitalization. This paper takes the rural con- struction movement in Beibei model in the period of the Republic of China as the research object. By examining the process of spatial production and historical experiences in Beibei’ s rural construction, it seeks to uncover the basic logic of community building in the rural construction process. The study finds that the existing rural products are the objective basis for spatial production, while optimization and transformation based on rural characteristics are important means of community building. This study has significant theoretical implications for the current implementation of rural revitalization strategies and the achievement of modernization in agriculture and rural areas in China.
