Abstract:This study explores the influence of focus adjustment as an individual trait on employees’ work engagement. Drawing from job design theory, strengths - and interest-oriented job remodeling is selected as a mediating variable to examine its mediating effects in the relationship between focus adjustment and employees’ work engagement. Statistical analysis of survey data from 220 enterprise employees reveals the following results: (1) Promotive focus adjustment has a significant positive impact on employees’ work engagement, while preventive focus adjustment has a significant negative impact on employees’ work engagement. (2) Promotive focus adjustment positively influences advantage and interest-oriented job remodeling, whereas preventive focus adjustment negatively influences it. (3) Advantage and interest-oriented job remodeling significantly mediates the effects of promotive and preventive focus adjustment on employees’ work engagement.
