Abstract:Cruella, Disney’s live-action animated film, tells the story of a talented female designer who gradually becomes a crazy, fashionable but evil person. On the one hand, the narrative pattern of Cruella fol_x005flows Joseph Campbell’s separation—initiation—return paradigm and the heroine Cruella goes through the standard path of the mythological adventure of a hero. On the other hand, the movie deconstructs the traditional heroic image and portrays a female anti-hero. Through postmodern narrative techniques such as collage, conflict and irony, the movie stresses a strong sense of game spirit and the fragmentation of the traditional moral system, bringing defamiliarization and freshness to the audience. It promotes the extremely self-centered and unbound rebelling spirit of the postmodern age.
