The united front is a tool for the implementation of the targeted poverty alleviation policy. Targeted poverty alleviation is a political task and an unavoidable social responsibility of the united front. The model of “united front + targeted poverty alleviation” is a requirement for the modernization of the national governance capacity and system. However, the theoretical importance does not make this model achieve ideal effect in practice. The reasons are that this model faces the predicament such as the misunderstanding of the united front thought, insufficient provision for personnel and funds of the united front department, lack of mechanism guarantee in the united front work, the challenge of the complexity of united front capacity and helped objects, lack of social participation in political culture in practice and so on. Therefore, it is the necessary choice to get out of the dilemma from the following five aspects such as problem orientation, ideological recognition, team building, working mechanism, platform of the united front, and social political cultural environment.
