Abstract:Since Porter and Kramer introduced ‘shared value’in 2006, the idea has generated strong interest in global business and academia. In this paper, a systematic and thorough domestic literature review of shared value, consisting of 30 papers,is conducted. The results reveal that Chinese researchers agree upon the definition given by Porter and Kramer (2011). However, only few of them focus on studying how it is operationalized, how it is disentangled from related concepts and how to analyze cases and examples. So, it is more of a buzzword than a substantive concept in China. Finally, recommendations are offered to define and measure the concept,to take a step toward disentangling it from related concepts, and to identify relevant research directions that would facilitate the extending of the knowledge frontier on shared value.
