Abstract:This research, by meas of the questionnaire survey and the interview probing into the problems of the incentives of college English teachers in the administration of ordinary universities in the West, analyzes quantitatively and qualitatively the current incentives of the college English teachers of Sichuan D University, Guizhou S University, Chongqing L University and Yunnan W University. Based on the data of the questionnaire survey, it concludes that the constraints of incentives of college English teachers in the administration of ordinary universities in the West are as follows: 1. The administerization of college severely affects the foundation of the scientific incentive; 2. The evaluation system of professional title appraisal cannot meet the requirements of the performance of the incentive; 3.The incentive system lacks equity; 4. College English teachers’ training receives insufficient concerns; 5. The effective evaluation modes of performance are absent. Hence, the management of the ordinary universities in the West should take into consideration the features of incentives of the college English teachers to establish effective incentives and to optimize its managemen
