Abstract:Based on the relative data of star hotels during 20062015, by using the research methods such as location quotient, market concentration index and market structure change index, this paper discusses the change and spatial difference features of the market structure of the star hotels of 31 provinces and municipalities of China. The results show that the location quotient of highlevel star hotels such as fourstar and fivestar hotels demonstrate an obvious gradient decreasing feature from east to west while the location quotient distribution of lowlevel star hotels such as onestar and twostar hotels is completely opposite. On the whole, in recent ten years, the location quotient of starlevel hotels shows a trend of regional balanced development, but degree of centralization of highlevel star hotels is still high. In most part of China, the hotel concentration degree is high, and the regional differentiation characteristics are not very obvious, which are mainly centralized in the twostar and threestar hotels. During the past decade, changes of market structure of starlevel hotels are relatively not obvious, but the regional feature of its changes is significant and shows a distribution pattern great change in the north or east while small change in the south or west. The proportion of allstar hotels in different regions of China share some more consistent changes with the increase of fivestar, fourstar and threestar hotels while the decrease of onestar and twostar hotels, but there are some exceptions, such as Tianjin, Shanghai, Tibet, Jilin, Guangxi and Ningxia.
