Abstract:In A Rose for Emily, American famous writer William Faulkner who is adept at using methods to interpret the outer world and the inner world of the character, reveals the injury of human nature, the derogation of love, the torment of spirit and the ravage of families which all stem from decadent culture and system of the South of American. This paper focusing on public symbol “rose” and private symbol “door”, uses the method of cultural study to research the implications of cultural and social meaning, which reveals the author’s intense critical and innovational consciousness.
