Abstract:Cormac McCarthy’s novels, as one of the pioneers in postmodernism tide, were introduced into the south of the United States and inevitably contain the typical feature of postmodern novels, and one of them is uncertainty. This kind of uncertainty feature makes his works deeper and more capacity to take care of the society, and their charm is lasting. On the basis of all kinds of thoughts and theories of postmodernism, McCarthy’s newest novel The Road is discussed in relatively detailed and meticulously from such four aspects as diversified themes, obscurely ambiguous figures, complicated and confusing episodes and segmented words.
