Abstract:According to Cultural Capital Theory, motivation and selfidentity is not only a psychological concept but also a sociology concept. The personal factors and learning motivation as well as selfidentity of many learners are interweaved and interacted. This research makes a quantitative study on the English learning of the students pursuing a master degree in science and engineering, analyzes the personal factors representing English learners that originate from different social stratums, leaner’s motivation and selfidentity, and their interrelationships. In the diversified society, how to construct harmonious English learning ecology to help the students from different regions and different social stratums to maximize their development is a topic demanding discussion.
