Abstract:Zhou Libo, a founder of Shanghai selftalk, with a brandnew form of singleperson show, uses humorous and confident words with exaggerated bodyaided performance at Shanghai theaters to display and comment social hotspots, important topics, current affairs and social news, which are warmly welcomed by Shanghai residents. With rapidly spreading of his debut on internet and TV media, his performance sweeps the whole country, becomes a very popular phenomenon in Chinese entertainment circle and is called “Zhou Libo Phenomenon” by media. From the perspective of communication, the popularization of “Zhou Libo Phenomenon” is analyzed, besides his accurate position (urban residents) and proper marketing, he meets the needs of happy times and mainstream desires emphasizing cultural life based on the masses, living affairs and the actual direction. In addition, the humorous interpretation and ironical integration of current events benefit from effective progress of the times and the liberal political and cultural environment.
