Abstract:Shapes made by feelings mentioned by Wang Wei and shapes made by imitating things mentioned by Su Shi have important significance for us to grasp the picturesque description of painting in poetry: Firstly, they reflect that the poets with painters’views keep sense of shapes and that the character of painting needs to have the aid of shapes to be reflected because the picturesque description of painting in poetry must presuppose shapes. Secondly, they are methods and kinds for making the picturesque description of painting in poetry. Shapes made by imitating things are the picturesque description of imitation which is called Reappearance. Shapes made by feelings are the picturesque description of images which is called Manifestation.
