“Madian Meeting” is a milestone in the development of social work in China, it marks the restoration and reconstruction of social work, and also marks the beginning of our modern social work. Since 1987, the social work in China has been rapid developed, and achieved a series of results. But it faces some problems and challenges, for example, the academic status of social work has not yet been established. So, at the 30th anniversary of “Madian Meeting”, reconsidering the development of Chinese social work and rethinking the professional consciousness are an important way to construct the social work discipline with Chinese characteristics.
