    Abstract:

The winning of suffrage is the prelude of American women’s political participation in electoral politics. However, due to internalizing traditional gender identity, as a group, American women don’t actively cast their votes in different elections in early postsuffrage era. Even if participating in, they can’t form a voting bloc on the basis of gender identity. Moreover, different feminist organizations differ from their perceptions on gender equality from each other, so they are not capable of making a united goal to fight against gender discriminations. Through gender perspective, this paper aims at exploring American women’s political participation predicaments in early post suffrage America.
