Farmer concentrated inhabitation is a new task of profound rural reform and innovation in China with important practical and theoretical meaning. Based on the summary of domestic related articles, this paper analyzes and concludes the definition, pattern, meaning, barriers, field study techniques and region distribution of farmer concentrated inhabitation, and outlooks the future direction of the research in this field including the relation between farmer concentrated inhabitation, agricultural modernization and urbanization, mode of operation, risk prevention and management, the study on regional differences, saving land utilization, etc.. A clear understanding of the development is obtained, which provides reference for the followup study.
