Approaching Lord of the Files from the perespective of eco-criticism,this paper reinterprets William Golding's literary experiment on the island.Different from previous narrative set on the island,Golding was also concerned with the fate of the island and delivered a strong sense of ecological concern.However,the island,present in the novel,has been neglected in the critical discourses,which can undoubtedly be attributed to anthropocentrism and environmental unconsciouseness.Through the literary experiment on the island,Lord of the Files,in the form of ecological allegory,exhibits clearly the hazards caused by the ignorance of ecological responsibility and demands serious reflection and reconstruction of human culture.
