Abstract:Zhang Jiucheng was a very famous scholar of the Confucian philosophy, who had written many books throughout his life, and, meanwhile, he was an excellent statesman who remained loyal to his emperor and loved his grassroots in Southern Song Dynasty. When his country was in a state of danger, he devoted himself to his duties and assumed full responsibilities and took the advantage of every opportunity to give suggestions to his emperor. When he was in service, he stood upright and never feared the powerful factions, argued outspokenly. Moreover, he put forwards his own viewpoints on the relationship between ministers and the monarch.Zhang Jiucheng abided by the people-centered thought of Mencius, worked hard for the ordinary people and cared about their sufferings. As a result, he was much beloved by his own people.
