After Mr.Fu Lei translated Romain Rolland′s novel Jean—Christophe, the fact is that more and more Chinese readers are moved and inspired by the artistic image of Jean Christophe. The author thinks that this artistic image shines with every hue in two aspects such as the fighting spirit for art, and rational and merciless dissection of human soul. Presently, the reexamination of this artistic im- age is of important significance to correcting the wrong understanding of the novel in the past.
