| Abstract: |
| Since the beginning of the 20th century, a large number of works of Sui Sin Far have been newly discovered. These discoveries show that the diversity and complexity of her works are far beyond our knowledge. The expanded oeuvre will greatly help the study of Sui Sin Far both in breadth and depth. By analyzing the border theme in her fiction and nonfiction, this paper aims to examine how Sui Sin Far portrays the history of border crossing of Chinese immigration in North America, thus revealing her imagination of an ideal community that crosses the boundaries of geography, nationality, and gender. |
