| 《四库全书总目》一方面沿承《隋志》，重视总集的文学功用，但论述比《隋志》更为细致全面。一方面，《总目》更强调总集的学术功用，认为总集可保存文献，可为考证、校勘之资，为典故之薮，有存史之用；另一方面，《总目》也重视总集的现实功用，认为一些总集有益于现实、政治、风教，能够反映社会风习。《总目》最重总集的学术功用，较传统只强调总集的文学功用，其总集功用观有所拓展和转变，也更为系统、全面，是站在学术总结期的富有总结意义的认识。 |

| Abstract: |
| The General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu follows the Sui Zhi in emphasizing the literary function of the collection, but its discussion is more detailed and comprehensive than that of the Sui Zhi. The General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu places more emphasis on the academic function of the general collection, which is considered to be a source of documents, a source of evidence and proofs, a source of allusions, and a source of history. The General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu also attaches importance to the realistic function of the general collection and believes that some general collections are beneficial to reality, politics, customs and education, and can reflect social habits. Compared with the traditional emphasis on the literary function of the general collection, the General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu pays the most attention to the academic function of the general collection. Its functional view of the general collection has been expanded and changed, and it is more systematic and comprehensive, which is a comprehensive understanding of the academic summary period. |
