| Schlegel broke the classical style norms from two aspects of theory and creation, and confirmed the stylistic position of the novel. He thought that the novel was a romantic book and was the only modern literary genre that could rival classical tragedies. Schlegel found new forms and new structures that could fit his idea of novel from Goethe’s William Maistre. Schlegel’s novel Lucinde, regarded as the most daring novel experiment of Romanticism, deepened his theoretical thinking of novel. |
