| This paper discusses English linguistic imperialism from the perspective of culture, English education and language learning. It begins with an analysis of the present situation of linguistic imperialism in the periphery and special position of English in non-English speaking countries. On studying the spread of Anglo-American culture, the traditional education ideas, language teaching concepts and SLA theories, the author explains how these factors account for todays linguistic imperialism and suggests countermeasures against it. |
