| God's shield for horse and carriage is still a folk marriage custom in many minority nationalities in many areas of the south of China,which is performed by wizards and flower-drum players or only by wizards,and has double colors of folklore and feudal and superstition and should not be simply accepted or denied but should be treated by dialectical method.Based on a lot of field survey and survey on literature and records,this paper makes simple discussion on the origin,evolution,connotation and procedure of the custom of god's shield for horse and carriage in Chongqing,Sichuan,Hunan,Hubei,Guizhou and Yunnan. |
