In recent years, more and more epilepsy patients were treated with combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.To observe the effect on seizure behavior and hippocampus neurons, young PTZ epilepsy rats were treated with Elm leaf crude extract by intragastric administration.The results displayed that the incidence rate of seizure reduced 20% and hippocampus neurons increased after 1.2g/kg，2.4g/kg Elm leaf extract intragastric administration.So Elm leaf extract can improve PTZ induced seizure behavior and reduce incidence of PTZ induced seizure.And Elm leaf extract can protect hippocampus neurons from damage by PTZ induced seizure.
