Abstract:Abstract: Research on ordered mesoporous silica materials for controlled delivery of drug has experienced an outstanding increase during recent years, particularly after the successful synthesis of ordered mesoporous silica materials like SBA - 15, MCM - 41. In the field of drug delivery, orderedmesoporous silica materials take the heat due to many special advantages like non - toxicity, huge specif2 ic area and pore volume, highly ordered channels, narrow distribution of pore size, excellent hydrothermal stability, high biocompati2 bility and tunable structure. Thisminireview dealswith the advances in this field by p resenting a summary of the synthesis of ordered mesoporous silica materials, the assembly of drugmolecular in the nano - pore of such materials, the studies on the controlled delivery of the drug assembled in nano - pores. Specific attention has been paid on the effect of two main factors, the specific area and pore structure of ordered mesoporous silica materials, on the delivery of drug.
