从语言学的层面,分析旧词新义现象产生的3个原因:社会发展的需求,语言使用者的需求,语言经济原则的制约;指出其变化的特点:词义的变化与时俱进,采纳吸收行业用语;并在此基础上探讨其英译的原则和方法。
