Abstract:Based on TM image of Qujing City, a small city in the center of southwest China, in 2006, 2011 and 2015, this paper quantitatively and qualitatively evaluates land use/land cover change(LUCC) of Qujing City from such three aspects as the change of land use and the status quo and the transfer situation of driving force from land use as well as the driving force of land use change by relying on ArcGIS10.2 and ENVI5.1, by using the maximum likelihood method, by combining the transfer matrix with each period of single land use type comparison chart. The research results show that in the studied years, the land use situation of Qujing City overall is rational and scientific, among which the cultivated land, shrub and grass mainly depend on the climate, policy change is more intense, during 20062011 and 2011—2015 period, the land use is close to 50% of the total, the construction land expands to surroundings from city center, the other land use maintains at 20% in the two periods, which is mainly concentrated in the densely populated area along Qilin District and Zhanyi County.
