This paper analyzes the relationship between traditional folk building and contemporary people, contemporary life way and contemporary culture, studies and comparatively analyzes the theory on traditional folk building space and modern life way adaptation from such three perspectives as the ideological thought of contemporary people, life way and construction culture of folk buildings, discusses the important techniques on reconstruction of inner space of traditional folk buildings and the reconstruction direction, summaries the raised problems based on the example analysis method, points out that the research direction should combine practicability, aesthetics and inheritance, establishes transdisciplinary framework, defines the related research scope and advances that the development of the design methods should be expressed in such four aspects as the involvement in science and technology, the influence by humanistic emotions, the development of local culture and the inheritance of history.
