Abstract:Provincial border areas, with intensive resources, sensitive ecology and lessdevelopment, face real predicament of marginalization. Based on the perspective of marginalization research, by focusing on border areas, via constructing interpretation model and index system, this paper conducts empirical study on the focused cases, and reveals the characteristics, problems and influencing factors of the economic gradient pattern with corehinterlandperipherymarginal of the marginalized border areas and sub regional phenomenon in order to provide the basis for the economic development across the border areas. The research shows that under the overlapping of such two factors as urban regional radiation effect and natural environment condition difference, their spatial economic gradient and spatial marginalization demonstrate persistent and strong characteristics, that economic development gap causes poor per capita income and low life quality, that the influential factors of crossborder disputes mainly include geographical factor, historic factor, resource and environment factor, administrative barrier factor, and that the challenges resulting from crossborder competition, cooperation, conflict and friction urgently need the reexamination and replan on the organization function of local governmental agencies.
