The Party Central Committee, with Xi Jinping at the core, has attached greater importance to the liberation and development of productive forces, and has been forward-looking in planning and deploying the development of new quality productive forces. Combined with the study of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on the development of new quality productive forces, this paper discusses the connotation of the development of new quality productive forces, proposes that new industries, new forms, new modes, and new services are the industrial carriers for the development of new quality productive forces, and summarises the requirements for the development of new quality productive forces as innovation-driven, people-centred, green and low-carbon, integrated and empowered, and chain-network linkage. On this basis, it reveals the strategic significance and practical role of developing new quality productive forces. It also proposes that the strategic focuses of developing new quality productive forces include improving the incentive mechanism for talents to stand out and reasonably flow, accelerating the transformation of traditional industries into high-end, intelligent, green and integrated industries, promoting the science and technology-led soft elements of productive forces to better empower the transformation and upgrading of the physical elements of productive forces, and innovating and expanding the digital economy and emerging industries, future industries and other new fields and new tracks, so as to build a high-level carrier and service platform for the development of new quality productive forces.
