Abstract:With Chinese economy going into the New Normal, the economic development in the West undergoes a series of profound changes nationally and internationally. The economic development in the West is provided with new historical opportunities from economic structural adjustment, transformation in development mode, domestic demand expansion, “One Belt and One Road” and “Four-zation” Synchronization Development Strategy. Meanwhile, the economic development in the West is facing new challenges such as the difficulties in building a well-off society in an all-round way, the lag of infrastructure construction, low quality of population and labor force, ecological environment deterioration, high pressure of energy conservation and emission reduction. Western Development is still first part of the four overall strategy of optimizing national economic development layout, and the new strategy of “One Belt and One Road” reveals the new direction and new blueprint of developing open economy in the West. Western Development needs market resource allocation to play its decisive role and government to play its leading role as well as more substantial support from the East and the Middle. The West should enhance the ability of self-development and sustainable development in ways of new industrialization, new-type urbanization and modern characteristic industry development.
