Until the end of September of 2006, the balance of China's foreign exchange reserves has reached 987.9 billion US dollars. However, foreign exchange reserves and other economic variables should have a proper scale. This paper introduces several main methods for measuring proper scale of foreign exchange reserves, makes empirical analysis of proper scale of China's foreign exchange reserves and gives a series of suggestions according to China's huge foreign exchange reserves management.
