It has been ten years since Chongqing became the municipality directly under the central government. During these years, great changes take place in economy and society of Chongqing and the living level of Chongqing residents is greatly promoted. Under the new historic condition, the effect of the municipality directly under the central government should be further brought into play for building Chongqing into an economic center at upper reaches of Yangtze River.
