The regi onal devel opment disharmony is dishar mony of urban - rural devel opment in essence . On the basis of the zoning of the eightmaj or regi ons of China, and after emp irical study of their overall urban - rural devel opment level, this paper shows that the t otal overall urban - rural devel opment level of the eightmaj or regi ons is l ow and that the change of the level is relatively slow and that the level shows consistently rising trends after 2004 and that the economic devel opment is not positive correlated with the overall urban - rural devel opment and that the difference bet ween the eightmaj or regi ons is obvious .
