Because of relatively complete infrastructure construction and of strong skill basis, Chongqing manufacturing industry has established relatively complete industrial system and forms a series of advantageous products. The proportion of output value begins to increase and the proportion of employment begins to decrease in skill-intensive and capital-intensive manufacturing industries. Under new situation, Chongqing should reconsider the status and role of manufacturing industry to take construction of modern manufacturing industry base as basic strategy choice for construction of economic center at upper reaches of Yangtze River in order to build new system of industry.
